runaway caravan

Happy holidays

Caravans are expensive and looking after your caravan includes knowing how to safely hitch up, load, tow, reverse, and park your caravan.

After a course with us customers feel happy to go ahead and tow confidently and enjoy safe towing and happy holidays

Unsafe practices often lead to vehicle runaway or trailer rollaway situations. They can result in serious and fatal injury to the driver or others, and costly damage to both vehicles and property.  Hopefully after our course this will not be you in the picture!

WARNING Please read your Caravan hitch head instructions. I have been watching you tube videos on hitching AL-KO type hitches and the words and suggestions are a little worrying, some mention 'when the hitch is connected you see a green line at the base of the main handle' --THIS IS JUST A WEAR INDICATOR to show the ball has not worn below permitted limits if fully red =worn ball HOWEVER Fully green with handle down a person would be forgiven for thinking green is 'safe' however this will happen if the main latch has not closed correctly and handle is pushed down -- The ball maybe up inside the socket pushing the top red/green indicator up BUT the latch may not have fully 'locked' into place under the ball. the best way to check you have a good connection is to perform a lift test.
